A working mom has the luxury of pursuing a career. She can retain an identity outside of the home and hearth. At the same time, no matter how modern society gets, a woman will mostly be judged by her ability to raise a family and kids. By working, a woman can feel extremely guilty because she is unable to spend time with her kids or family. She may at times even envy a stay at home mom¸ who can spend as much time with her family as she desires. Often basic aspects such as the ability to serve fresh home cooked food to the kids, or just being there for their soccer game become impossible to accomplish owing to the work pressure. That leaves a working woman with only the weekends to spend time with kids and family.

A stay at home mom can be happy and assured knowing she is totally available to her kids and family whenever they should need them. When the kids are at their infancy a stay at home mom can be there for their nursing, food and other requirements. Later on, she will be there when they are growing up or when they need advice or solutions. For her husband a stay at home mom can cook up delicious recipes that the husband fancies. In other words, a stay at home mom has the opportunity to be there as a complete mother or a spouse is supposed to be. However, the drawback is that in the process she may lose out on being able to pursue an active career and establish an identity for herself.

When comparing the situations of a working mom and a stay at home mom no one is better. Both sides have their own drawbacks and advantages. Ultimately it is upto a mother to decide how she wishes to manage her life. If she wishes to become a stay at home mom she will be able to enjoy the joys of watching her kids grow. At the same time, she would have to sacrifice the prospect of pursuing a career. On the other hand, a working woman can establish herself in a position of authority in the workplace but at home she would not be able to spend sufficient time with the kids or spouse. Life is all about choices and nothing comes without strings attached. While the prospect of working for an income may seem enticing for a stay at home mom, only a working mom knows the guilt she feels when away from her kids.
