I've had so much fun writing articles on Wedding Games and continue to come up with new ideas. As long as couples are interested in discovering new ways to make their weddings fresh and different, I will keep the ink flowing with ideas. So, here are a few more fun games you can try at your wedding.
Where's Brido/Where's Groomo
Remember the children's books based around the character "Waldo"? Here's a variation of "Where's Waldo" played with small photos of the bride and/or groom buried amidst a collage of other photos and magazine cutouts.
Before the wedding, assign someone to create the collage on a regular sheet of paper and have them annotate with a list of what items the guests should locate in addition to the bride and/or groom. Make copies to hand out at the reception. Hand out the copies at the start of the game along with a pen or highlighter so that the items can be marked as they are found. The first guest to find everything yells "brido" or "groomo" and receives an appropriate prize.
Balancing Act
Your guests see how many (non-breakable) things that they can pile on a serving tray and single-handedly carry across the reception hall. A variation is to see how many tiers of champagne glasses your guests can stack on a tray and carry across the reception hall.
Balancing Act Relay
Get teams to race with their trays.
Guess the Impostor
Hire an actor to come to the wedding and see after mixing and mingling who is your first guest to guess the impostor.
Each guest is given a slip of paper on which they write their name and later their guess. The guests must not shout out the suspected name or point that person out but must write the guess down so as not to spoil the fun for everyone else.
Assign someone in the wedding party to keep the guesses ordered as they are received. The actor will need to be good enough to fool your guests that he or she is someone that you know, that they wouldn't know.
Napkin Folding
Not really a game but ... have your caterer teach a crash course in napkin folding.
Before the wedding, purchase enough napkins for each guest to have one, in your wedding scheme/color or with your names and wedding date. After the folding fun, your guests can take theirs home as a souvenir. Note - These aren't the napkins that they will use for their meal.
Create an Origami Crane
This is a less expensive version of napkin folding and incorporates the symbolism of Japanese culture.
Hand each guest a sheet of origami paper and have someone teach everyone to fold a crane - a symbol of honor and loyalty in Japanese culture. When the cranes are finished, have someone string them together with a needle and thread as a meaningful memento of the reception to give to the Bride and Groom.
So, try a game or activity that sounds like fun to you and have a fabulously fun wedding!
