Secret Sex Fears All Guys Have

Hands down, a guy's greatest sex fear is not getting any. But once we know the game is on, a whole new set of worries takes hold. Here, the nerve-wracking reasons we often break into a cold sweat before getting hot and heavy.

Getting Naked
Okay, you'll never hear us bitch about a "fat day," but hell, we have our share of insecurities. Take it from Allen,* 26, who made the ego-crushing mistake of renting Troy with a date. "After two hours of Brad Pitt's thighs bursting out of a leather miniskirt, I'm thinking, How can I compete with that? I was dying to put the moves on this girl, but I was afraid she'd be disappointed with my mere mortal measurements."

Bringing Up Birth Control
We know it's a given that we have to use protection, but no man wants to initiate the jimmy chitchat. Why? Allow Ted, 27, to elaborate. "This chick and I were going at it, and it seemed pretty clear that sex was in the cards, so I asked if she had a condom," he says. "Next thing I know, she is dressed and pissed off that I assumed we were going to go all the way. I've also been in the situation where I didn't broach the subject, and the girl thought I was an asshole who didn't give a damn about safe sex. Guys can't win!" So why not do us all a favor and bring up birth control first?

Your Sex-pectations
Men don't attach a whole lot of meaning to sex. We'll hop in the sack because, well, you let us. (Don't hate the player — hate the game!) But some women view the first time as some big relationship milestone, and frankly, it scares us. Just ask Bruce, 32: "I was dating a great girl, but the second we slept together, she became a commitment nazi," he says. "She started calling me her boyfriend, talking about meeting my family...I freaked out and bailed." Moral: Sex doesn't change much for guys, so don't assume it does.

Sucking in the Sack
All guys grow up idolizing Ron Jeremy and his legendary lasso. So considering our porn-star role models, imagine the pressure we feel to blow your mind in bed. "I want to be a sex god," says Ed, 28. "But in my head, I'm thinking, What if the last guy she slept with was bigger? What if I can't get it up? What if I can't get her off? The pressure is insane." Hey, you can't fault a guy for wanting to give you the best sex of your life. Just be sure to throw him a bone (as in "Damn, where'd you learn that?) so he knows he's more than measuring up.
