Host a Weight Loss Party

Why not do something to make getting in shape fun? How about hosting a weight loss party? A weight loss party may be just the motivation you need to take those first crucial steps towards losing those excess pounds. Here's how to host a successful weight loss party.

Step1 Prepare your guest list.
To host a successful weight loss party, make a list of friends who have professed a desire to lose weight and get in shape. Keep your weight loss party small. An ideal number would be five to ten people.

Step2 Send out invitations.
Prepare a cute invitation to send to your potential party attendees. Stamp a blank card with a photo of a scale (You can use a rubber stamp for this). Inside the card, write something catchy such as “Need to drop a few pounds? Stop cursing the scales and join us for our first annual weight loss party. It'll be a night of fun, friendship, and low calorie foods. Let's lose those last pounds together!” Send out your invitations two weeks ahead of the big event.

Step3 Prepare healthy, low calorie snacks.
Of course the snacks you serve at your weight loss party should be low in calories and fat. Some ideas are a veggie tray with low calorie dip, shrimp cocktail, air popped popcorn, exotic fruits, or low fat ice cream. Be sure to have some calorie free drinks available such as soft drinks and unsweetened tea.

Step4 Discuss your weight loss strategies.
After everyone has enjoyed their low calorie snacks, gather the group in a circle to talk about weight loss strategies. Allow each person to talk about their weight loss goals and what's worked for them in the past. The group can help each person establish their weight loss goals for the next thirty day period and how they're going to achieve them. Pass out pads of paper and pen for each person to take notes during the discussion. When the discussion is over, each person should have their weight loss goals documented on paper. To give each participant more support in reaching her goals, assign a weight loss partner to each person so that both participants can mutually support one another over the next month. Support can be in the form of phone calls, emails, or personal visits.

Step5 Agree to meet again in a month.
Before the party is over, the group should agree to meet for follow up at which time successes can be shared and future weight loss goals established. At the conclusion of the party, your participants should be eager and motivated to start their new fitness plan.
