Sex Myths You Should See Through Now

For a gender that claims to rely on logic and facts, men sure buy into a lot of lies when it comes to sex. Hard to blame them, though, when these "facts" have been around for so long that we've accepted them as gospel.

Ready to separate truth from fiction?

Man Myth #7: Men are more visually stimulated than women.

Even the experts get this one wrong all the time. A Washington University study measuring the brain waves of women watching erotic images found that the ladies' brainwave activity reacted just as strongly as men's.

Man Myth #6: Only women can have multiple Os.

It is easier for women? Probably, but that doesn't mean you can't do it. Men, too, can experience multiples (without the, uh, explosive finale) if he's strengthened his pelvic floor muscles for greater control and has learned to back off from "the point of no return."

Man Myth #5: You can get addicted to porn.

Well, okay, porn addiction is a real thing. But it's very rare. Only one percent of all people who look at the naughty stuff on the 'net will become addicted. So you can surf and click without caution.

Man Myth #4: You shouldn't have sex before the big game.

Sports stars often claim to hold off on pre-game sexual action to avoid ruining their performance. But Swiss researchers, who performed stress tests on people two and ten hours after the subjects had sex, found that after ten hours, the participants were "fully recovered." There was only a small dip in performance after two hours.

Man Myth #3: You reached your sexual peak as a teen.

True, your supply of testosterone peaked in your late teens (and woman's estrogen hits a high point in her mid to late 20s), but that has exactly nothing to do with how often or how much you enjoy sex. While you do experience physical changes as you grow older, those changes are more than made up for by greater confidence and experience.

Man Myth #2: You've always got it on the brain.

It feels like we hear the line "men think about sex every seven seconds," about, well, every seven seconds or so. Reality is that only about 20 percent of men claim to fantasize frequently. So, don't worry if it's not taking up your every thought. You have to give some consideration to work, beer, and sports, right?

Man Myth #1: You don't size up.

Despite the number of spam emails telling you otherwise, you're probably just fine. According to Men's Health magazine, in a recent study 63 percent of men complained of having inferior hardware - but not one of them was smaller than normal.
